how does it happen?

how can a seller get it so wrong? ordered something from queensland. i live in country south australia. i get a tracking number from 'fastaway' couriers. i check the number today as today was the last day of the predicted delivery time.

i discover my items in perth and there is a message attached saying they have been unable to deliver my item! possibly because i dont live in perth i suspect but who knows.

i just dont get it, when i sell something on ebay i get all the information i require to safely send it to my buyer. only i can screw it up by not sending it where its supposed to go.

just as well its a cheap item and i didnt need it in a hurry.

A good seller trying to do  the right thing to fix an AP blunder no doubt.

It always seems so unfair that there is no real recourse if the 'delivery co' whether it be AP or a courier take no responsiblity for lost items.

They take the 'senders' money and then it seems 'luck of the draw'.

Years ago I worked for an importing company, we used freight companies (obviously) to send our products - the rep and I got on really well and I will not name the freight co, but he told me once they had actually 'misplaced' a Black Hawk Helicopter that was sent to Darwin for the DF.

It was located, but made me think if they could lose that, what chance did our pallets really have if they got caught in the 'never never' LOL

if you go back and read my earlier posts you will find this seller chose to not post via australia post as in the listing but decided without contacting me to send via a courir company. thus starting this whole problem.

there was no australia post "blunder" more a "seller blunder"

as i stated in an earlier post, it doesnt matter to me how a seller sends an item, unless they choose to not send it via the agreed method and it goes off course.

A couple of months after I had purchased and paid for the item, I had contacted the seller, who had refunded my payment. Imagine his supprise when, 14 months later, I left him glowing positive f/b and resent payment., along with a note of explanation.

Nice story but why embroider the facts?

You cannot leave feedback after 14 months.....the cutoff is 60 days or occasionally a few days more if you do it through the US site.

In reply to davewil1964.

As I said in my message we use Fastway for our business (I use Australia Post for my Ebay sales) and Fastway delivers to our customers who have businesses as well so they are at work in their busiesses during the day when Fastway delivers. I only use Fastway for Ebay if  the buyer request it iand  the buyer is at work or home all day and would be there to accept the parcel.

Re: how does it happen?

I'm fairly sure I was able to do that. I've no chance to check now as this event took place about 20 years ago, and while I was using a different eBay account from the one I use now. However, I'm 73 years old and the memory isn't quite what it once was, so you may be right...perhaps it was just the explanatory email I sent him.

Re: how does it happen?

You mean you started using ebay as soon as it was founded?

You may like to check your time lines....ebay was only founded in September 1995.

But I do conceed you may have been able to leave feedback for a longer time than you are now as it would have been through the US site then.

I was one of the very early eBayers, I'm not exactly sure when I first joined, however, the key word in my post is "about" 20 years ago.

Wondering why you find it necessary to have "private" feedback, and be involved in "Secret" sites, but still offer advise to others when you are not a seller.

With respect wan303, Lyndal has every right to have private fb as a buyer, most do infact.

Also, you have no idea if Lyndal sells or not, as people here have more than one id on eBay, especially when visiting the boards, and to keep selling/buying accounts separate.

I have yet to see a member more knowledgable on most things eBay related, from buy/sell, paypal and transport.

Many members prefer to have Private feedback.....what I buy and how much I pay for it is nobody's business but mine.

It is amazing how member's feedback becomes fair game when they post on the boards...the busybodies love to comment on it even when it has nothing to do with the subject under discussion.   Members with Private feedback cannot sell on that ID.

Many members have multiple IDs for buying, selling and posting on the boards and very few of them use their main selling IDs....it leaves them open to all sorts of shenanigans from auction interferance to feedback problems.

I don't know of any of the regular board posters who have just one ID.

Sorry, but what do you mean by me being involved in "secret" sites?  I am intrigued.

As for offering advice when I am not a seller.....I know how ebay works and read the rules so why shouldn't I offer advice to those who need it?   Are you suggesting that only buyers should answer questions on buying and sellers answer questions on selling?
