When did they purchase the item ? ( how long has it been since the aution ended ) Have they made any contact with you ?

I only asked those questions because something may have happened in the meantime. Accident, Hospital, Family Matter, the list is endless. It's very nice when people pay immediately but sometimes things happen after they bid. Maybe send them a polite reminder or ask for contact at least and take it from there. 🙂

As a buyer it depends on which site you have purchased as to the minimum time you have to make payment. If you buy from an Australian seller then you have 4 days before they can open an unpaid item dispute, if you purchase from a US seller then they can start a dispute after 2 days.
Some sellers say in their listings that they will wait a few more days but unless they do so you should always pay within the time appropriate to the purchase site.
Sellers can also have their accounts set to open disputes automatically so if you are not going to be able to pay within those times you should contact the seller before you bid or buy and ask if it will be OK.
As a seller you really should open disputes asap after the 4 days unless you state in your listings you will allow longer as ebay send a reminder after 48 hours and it is a good idea to send a tactfully put pay up or else reminder on day 3 then it should come as no surprise if you open a dispute at the end of day 4.
As for the " Accident, Hospital, Family Matter" etc we have heard them all before, in the vast majority of cases if you check their activity it has not stopped them bidding on and buying other items. Also if they have the internet access to email and tell you they cannot pay then they could have used that time and connectivity to make a Paypal payment.

With all due respect phorum_junkie, I personally don't think it's always that Black & White. I try and communicate with the Buyer and see if there is a problem. If there is, I am more than happy to wait. ( a few days ) Then if you do not hear from them again, then start the UID process. Try and be a bit flexible, but not taken for a fool. 🙂

It was bought on the 19th May.
I sent a friendly email on 24th May as a reminder.
Then I sent an email today just asking nicely if they could please pay for the item.
I have heard nothing back and their activity is as recent as a day ago.
What do I do now?
Iv'e never had anyone not pay before ;(

from the drop down menu beside the item on your my eBay All Selling page, click Resolve a Problem and open a non payer dispute, the buyer then has 4 more days to pay, if they don't pay, on the 5th day you close the dispute, ebay will refund your fvf and you can relist. neither side gets to leave feedback, and the ''buyer'' gets a strike against their account

By the sound of it, I think you best start the process. Obviously they are ignoring your polite messages. 😞 Sad that they have done that to you.
