my son recently purchased an item
he picked up and paid cash for item
he marked his account as paid left feedback and received feedback from seller and thought all was good
the other day he sees and unpaid item dispute for this purchase
he has sent seller an email but got no response
now the dispute has been closed and he has a strike against him
how do we go about sorting this out as he has done nothing wrong
of course there was no receipt given for the transaction as my son said the seller was very pleasant and easy to deal with and now this ??

Call ebay and tell them it was a cash on pickup item.

thanks ... I think he has already done that and the UP strike has gone through anyway so will get him to ring again
son can't understand why this has happened as he said the seller was really good and the transaction was no problem at all

There should be a link on the email or message to appeal the strike, and there's a good chance it will be overturned quickly that way (don't know if it being the weekend will affect that, though).
The seller has most likely done this because it means they get a credit of the FVF charged on the sale. Totally unacceptable behaviour IMO and I would be leaving a follow-up to the feedback for them. (Disputes can be opened automatically by eBay, but not if the seller offered payment options like bank deposit or cash on pick-up like I assume they would have for a pick up item, so it seems more likely it's something the seller has chosen to do).

That's pretty low.

Just a thought. Maybe seller hasn't marked item as paid on their sales record so still showing as unpaid. If seller left feedback, could be a genuine mistake on their part.
If seller was OK about transaction, has son contacted seller to ask why the dispute?

" he has sent seller an email but got no response "

Shaffycat if your son still knows what the seller's address or phone number is he may be able to sort things out directly with them.
