 i purchased a pc and sent it back after 2 months as it was faulty. it had a 12 month warranty as well as a 30  day return refund policy , as i was outside the 30 day refund i was sent another pc. 14 days after i got the second one i requested a return refund from the seller.  He said  the 30 days started from the purchase date from the original, not the replacement. i know this is bs. i have got the dept of fair trading involved with this.  I have tried to get in touch with ebay but i can only get a machine not a person. Any  ideas appreciated

The seller is correct.

eBay's MBG does not cover replacements, therefore eBay will do nothing.

Fair Trading only covers you if the seller is a registered Australian business. For Apple, which is unlikely. If the iMac was used/refurbished, you are on your own.

Online warranties are generally worth the paper they're written on. No paper online...

As from last month,  eBay has introduced  new rules which apply to advertising  refurbished products . 

Business sellers now have to apply to be part of the eBay refurbished program, meet certain performance

metrics and if successful,  have to offer a one year warranty

Hmm, I don't know.

You were outside the 30 day return policy or ebay money back guarantee.

I think you were lucky to have been sent a replacement after 2 months, given that this is ebay.

And you don't say the second one was faulty at all, only that you wanted a refund. I would have assumed you were out of time.

The seller could be right, the 30 days may start from the original purchase date. I know this is not the same scenario exactly but a while back, I bought a battery for my watch and it came with a 2 year warranty.

It died 23 months in. Luckily i still had the card and got my free replacement (this was at the local shopping centre, not an ebay purchase, by the way).

The person who served me said to me-this battery is covered for the next month as you had a 2 year warranty. I was a bit annoyed as I had assumed maybe I would get a new, 2 year warranty but nope, not how it worked.
