So I bought this item from a seller and paid through paypal, but then I found out I already have a spare one at home, so I asked the seller to cancel the transaction and refund the money.
But the seller replies
"in this case please leave us a good feedback on the one you wish to cancel and advise by email again and we will send a cancellation request to ebay and refund your money."
So wait a minute, why would I leave the seller a positive feedback before I receive the item or the refund.
What should I do in this case?

Clearly shows you have trust issues and when it is the other way round you don't mind causing the seller the grief.
You made the mistake, wear it.
