hi, i collect diecast model cars, recently corgi released an aniversary james bond aston martin DB5 car in two versions, a standard silver and a special gold version, the silver version is selling for about $60 and the gold at about double that. ive come across a seller using the photo of the gold car as the only photo of the car in his listing but if you read his description hes actually selling the silver car.
i know the price hes asking is a give-a-way that hes not selling the gold car but i think some buyers will think its the gold car they are purchasing.
to me its missleading advertising but i cant find an option in the report an item that covers this.
any ideas?

davidc - are you Ebay's police?
Do you get paid for that job?
Trawling and looking for "faults" in listings - and reporting them
Prime example of being trigger happy, no mucking around, trying to crucify instantly, assuming it was misleading something or other - just to find that it was right all along - with an honest mistake in the listing that every other buyer would have found out also by asking, just like you did!

why are you so angry? it wasnt right all along, it was wrong all along until i questioned it. my question here was about how do you report an item where the photo is not correct, where a seller could scam an unaware buyer. i never identified the seller so how was i crucifing him? if i wanted to crucify the seller id have posted item number ect. you ought to take a chill pill dear.
btw, i actually bought one of his cars and was thanked for pointing out his listing error before i purchased.
i dont trawl, i collect diecast cars.

If you had posted the item number or anything to identify the seller with the intention of naming and shaming the Moderators would have removed it and you would probably have been sanctioned.
While I would not have been as blunt as fixwear, I must admit I did wonder why you would bother starting a thread about the issue before just sending the seller a message to alert him.
Mistakes happen in real life that can be corrected without the need to advertise the error for all to see.

you still havent answered the question, how do you report an item with a missleading photo? as i originally described, 2 cars, one silver one gold, the gold one value twice what the silver one is. seller uses the gold photo but is selling silver ones. any seller, no one in particular. or do you have to wait until it arrives and then face trying to prove the seller sold you a silver one not a gold one?

Good day to you.
All items have a Report Item feature on the listing page.
You have no doubt noticed this on your own listings on RHS by scrolling down.
Hope this helps.

ah, yes i do know about the report an item link. if you try that you get a combination of options list, nothing covers missleadiing photos where the photo and descriptions dont match.

How do you report an item with a misleading photo?
__________________________________________________
First of all, you send the seller a message alerting him to the discrepancy (sounds like you've already done this). On a couple of occasions I've sent messages to sellers if I've noticed a mistake or some extra info that helps the item sell better and they've been most grateful. Likewise I've received helpful info !!
if you are actually buying this item, then all you can go on is the listing description, photos and any message exchange. You will need to wait for the item to arrive before you can take any further action, rather than anticipating beforehand.

You could try Fraudulent Listing but really that is overkill, which is probably why ebay does not have a combination that covers a straight out error which was easily fixed by a message.
Why do buyers want to report any little thing that they see as misleading.
I would have just messaged the seller to ask for clarification of which item they were selling....the item in the photo or the item in the description.
I would not be the first time I have done that and it probably will not be the last.
These days sellers have enough to contend with from ebay without vindictive buyers who just want to make trouble and put the boot in without sending a simple question..
