not being able to go through with buy now option

my mum and i were on ebay looking for cupboards and things and she found one she liked. she clicked on buy now but that was as far as it went. it was not "purchased" or payed for or anything. when reading the description it had details about shipping only when she clicked on buy now it said pick up only. (we dont live in that state and can not pick it up). as well as this she went into her bank account and discovered she can not pay and therefore no longer wanted the item. i had not realised that the item had been listed as purchased ( to me its not purchased until A) it has been confrimed and B) you have paid for it, after that is logical )

a got an email from the seller asking that if i did not wish to have the item then to advise her. i did this and apolagised for the confusion. i have not heard back from the seller and have had emails from ebay saying that a case has been opened and my account may be suspended. what do i do about this and how can i stop my account from being suspended. am i missing something?

You/your mother MUST have clicked Confirm or no purchase would have been recorded-no ifs,buts or maybe's sorry,it WAS bought.

Seller has opened an unpaid item dispute which is their right so you/your mother can either pay up or cop the strike by ebay.

There is an appeal link in the unpaid strike that you'll receive if you don't pay that you could TRY.

Er that seller actually does offer postage as its not assembled.You even get FREE postage to some places.Item is sent via courier-I think-can't be bothered going back to look at OP's purchase history lol

Getting to the heart of the problem... Firstly, you need to open the case and reply to whatever the seller has mentioned in the dispute.. If you can come to an agreement, you can request that the seller cancel the transaction - if this is done then no negative feedback will be left and you will not incur an 'unpaid item strike'. Ensure all your correspondence with the seller is done via ebay messages or through this dispute thread because, at any time you believe the seller is being unreasonable, you can contact ebay customer service direct to help sort the issue with the backup of your logged negotiations.

Don't freak out - it happens quite often that a buyer purchases an item by mistake or can change their mind. The important thing is that you are prompt with your communication with the seller and make an effort to try and resolve the issues.

Lets not start confusing people. It has not been possible to respond within a dispute for a number of years.

Firstly, read the message from eBay carefully and make sure that the seller has not sent you a mutal cancellation request. They come through eBay and can look similar to an unpaid item dispute if you don't read it correctly. The seller could simply be trying to get their fees back from ebay after you said you didnt wish to proceed with the purchase.

If you have the option to agree or not in the message from ebay then it is a cancellation, not non-paying buyer dispute. Click that yes you agree to the cancellation and then that is it.

If the seller has sent a NPB dispute instead then you can message them and very nicely remind them that you had replied to their offer of a cancellation and no longer wished to purchase 🙂

To the best of my knowledge,if the seller has opened a non payer case,they can't then change it to a Mutual cancellation so JMO but OP is going to have to wear this & use the appeal link to have strike overturned.

Think its too late for any further communication between them JMO

The seller can in fact change a dispute from a NPB to a cancellation. It is not possible to go the other way though
