There is a lot of this going on, I'm currently waiting on delivery for 11 items through 4 different sellers. According to feedback since I bought my items the jewellery in question are fake. What irritates me the most, apart from the considerable sum of money lost, is that ebay accept no responsibility and not thinking to help apart from directing you to Paypal.

My advice is to enter a dispute through your Paypal account, it's the only protection we have. Also avoid the jewellery section in ebay Australia, I have found that ebay US is far more reliable and honest while the many sellers using ebay Australia are nothing more than scammers.

If you open a not as described dispute with Paypal you will need to provide them with proof from a qualified person the item/s are fake and return them via registered post.

If you receive the items and get a letter from an authorized dealer to very they are fake and then open a dispute via paypal and escalate to a claim and then call paypal, they will tell you to send the letters on the letter head to verify they are fake and you will then be refunded without having to return them.

+1 to sparkle recommendation but be sure to do it within 45 days of the purchase date.

Buy from top rated sellers or power sellers who have the commitment to do the right thing.Ebay will hold the case against their account and hopefully sort it out for you.Incorrect goods deserve a refund if you return them.

banf I don't sell jewellery but  to say aussie sellers are shonks is a bit broad.  You will probably find the shonky ones aren't AUSSIES at all, but relatives of people from a certain communist country that get their relatives to open up accounts in numerous names/identities until they are closed down, then they just re-open under another identity.

Scammers are very practised at their 'business'....and the honest sellers [in any category] suffer because of these so called a....;s.

I would steer WELL CLEAR of anyone offering jewellery with a very low feedback score unless I could verify their identity via a bricks & mortar address rather than rely on ebay's woeful verification system that keeps allowing the scammers through the net.

Agree suitcase with the last paragraph but I have encountered 2 sellers that continue to sell, one was selling an original Rolex and all it needed was a new battery. The second selling 14K gold earrings that were fake after I took them to my jeweller. Reported both for all the good it seems to have done.

I do feel for the legitimate sellers but they seem to be more difficult to find than the downright scammers or those that guild the Lilly to much.

So far I have 11 items from 4 different sellers which are suspect and am awaiting my jewelers valuation. And 2 confirmed fakes from 2 other sellers leaving me $600 out of pocket at this point. It seems that I can only blame myself, at least buying jewellery through grays online every item is verified by their valuers whereas with ebay their is no accountability making life easy for scammers.

Yes banf, I think when it comes to purchasing valuable jewellery it is safer to stick with a well established bricks & mortar auction house as there doesn't seem to be any true PROTECTION on here by the sounds of it when it comes to shonky sellers !
