saw an item advertised for $120 + $16 postage
with 'make an offer'
so i made an offer of $100 + the postage
got no reply and the offer expired.
then i get a message from ebay the item has been relisted so i go take a look.
its now $100 with free delivery!
so i buy it and today got a message to say its 'on its way' with an australia post tracking number!!
the guy could have accepted my offer and got the postage money?
must have cost at least $16 to post if not more, its quite large if not that heavy.

well its everything i need, i have noticed when i have been up cleaning my current one all the metal parts are rusting and well looking very old.
its got to be 20 years old at least as ive lived here since 2007 and the previous lady owned the house for quite a few years and she wasnt the orginal owner.

ad yes, i cant call it as 'not as described' as the photo does show 'no fan'
but the guy in my mind elected to not mention 'no motor/fan' hoping someone would by it not realising.
i made a booboo, i'm hoping i can buy a new motor/fan unit from IXL

m sellers reponse to my complaint is as i thought, he feels his picture is the only evidence he needs.
i still say if it was me i'd have said in my description it had no fan/motor.
his message,
My response below:
1. The picture of the item I sold to you clearly indicated that it was a heat and light only, and I have never claimed that it had a fan. You not having a good look at the picture does not give you any right to try to blame me for being dishonest when it was in fact your own negligence and fault.
2. The item is still brand new and unopened; we did not install it because we had been moving around for work purposes.
3. I do not appreciate you making false accusations against me

i think tomorrow i will call ebay and see what their view is on this, is some small print on a box in a photo good enough to make this not a missleading listing.
imagine if you bought a car and when you went to drive it you discovered it had no engine and the salesman said, well you didnt read the sticker on the back that says 'no engine fitted'

David, you don't have a leg to stand on......the seller is right. He does not mention a fan and even the title only mentions a heat light.
You have been very unfair to the seller if you are trying to blame him for your mistake.
It is in no way a misleading listing.

Charles Dickens wrote a book about this - Great Expectations.
You have admitted the photo said no fan, so why are you expecting redress from the seller because there is no fan?

You weren't "tricked" and you didn't "got done". It's as the other's said, you didn't look at the photos properly. There is absolutely nothing you can do about it, short of looking for a motor and fan. Ringing eBay would be pointless.
I don't know why you didn't just look at Bunnings. They have Tastics for under $100 for the complete kit.

i not only checked out bunnings but i contacted the IXL company themselves.
yes, i can buy a new 'tastic' unit for under $100 from bunnings however the new models have been updated with LED lights that require rewiring of the home by an electrician and we all know when we call an electrician expect to pay a lot.
so thats why i wanted a unit the same as my old one. a simple swap over same for same.
i allready said i havent a leg to stand on over this, this thread is my rant that a seller did something i wouldnt do
knowingly not mention something a buyer could well not realise.
i wonder if anyone telling me 'oh well you should have read everything on the box' would have seen the listing and known there was no fan in this unit?
its easy when i have explained how i got duped.
now i am not and have not left negative feedback and i had no intention of doing so. that doesnt mean i cant express my thoughts on how i got duped. the seller didnt break any laws of selling, in fact he used the oldest trick in the book.
just dont tell them.
used car salesmen have used the same technique for ever.
