unhappy with products (smelly cosmetics ! ) and seller is fobbing me off

i bought some moisturiser  (3 x sml pots) and as soon as i opened the first one i thought "this is different" (had products before from a different supplier), but I used it anyway. but after 3 weeks of spasmodic use i found it so repellent that i wrote to the seller about it. NO GO !! totally refusing to refund or replace. So I wrote to Lancome UK and asked them if they wanted the sample sent to them- (thought maybe fake product or old stock) but they said "this is an unlicesed supplier" - so end of story. I FEEL MAD.the second jsar was unopened and now i have tried it, same smell, really foul, WHAT SHOULD I DO ?? is there a report- system in place for buyers to report a dodgy ebay sellers ?

Is there a use-by date on the packaging? because most cosmetics contain oil of some type and if they are old or have been stored incorrectly then the oil can become rancid, and the smell of rancid oil is seriously awful.
Cosmetics definitely "expire".

I dunno....?:|?:|?:|

JMO but if I found that a product had a repellent smell on opening, I sure as hell wouldn't put one drop on my face or body and at that point in time would have messaged the seller.

We sell beauty products.(on another id) All products will have a code on the base of the bottle or box to indicate the use by date. Lancome codes usually begins with a letter rather than a numeric.

You can then go to this website http://checkcosmetic.net/ and enter the code to find out the use by date of your product. Even if you have thrown out the box, look at the base of the bottle or jar. At least then if it has expired you can inform the seller.

We display all expiry dates on our descriptions - I would never buy from a seller that didn't advise this.

Secondly, regarding the comment from Lancome, this simply means that the seller is not an authorised stockist of this brand. We are authorised stockists of a few brands, but sell many others also. Many big brands are extremely protective of their brand and will only on sell to DJs, Myer or a retail store (not an online store).

It doesn't mean the products are fake just because you didn't purchase from an authorised seller. If you call any major brand that will inform you that you should always buy from an licensed seller because of course they want to protect the image and price of the brand and dont want it being discounted anywhere online.

I know I am biased, but I strongly suggest you buy from an Australian seller in future. We are just as price competitive, easier to communicate with, offer brilliant customer service, but just a little more difficult to find. You need to sift through the Hong Kong, US and UK sellers before you find the top rated Australian sellers!
