I received an item from america and it was damaged apparently in transit. When I received the item it was in a FedEx box. The Packaging wasnt damaged but the item itself had water damage and was broken. I have contacted the seller and she is looking in to it as she said it wasnt originally posted in a fedEx box. What are the potential outcomes as this item was sent thru the global shipping program and the postage cost to send it back costs nearly as much as the item itself and isnt worth my while. Thanks for any advice

Items sent through the Global Shipping Program do not arrive in the seller's original packaging....they are repacked by Pitney Bowes and I have heard horrifying reports of how badly some of them are packed.
I have never had to make a claim on anything shipped through the GSP but going by reports on the boards there can sometimes be issues with getting a full shipping refund. You have no trouble getting a refund of the item price and shipping paid to the seller, but Pitney Bowes is not so quick to refund their amount.
All you can do is initiate a paypal dispute, escalate it and hope for the best.
If your seller is being co-operative it might be a good idea to wait and see what she can find out but just don't let it go past 45 days before opening the dispute.

Seller is being very helpful and is as upset as I am how the item arrived. Hopefully we can get a mutually satified outcome. This is the first time I have purchased from the states and unfortunately my hesitations have come true.

Believe me this is not a typical transaction with a seller in the USA. The GSP is the worst service ever introduced by ebay.
Don't let this experience put you off dealing with US sellers....just choose sellers who will ship directly to you and not use the GSP.

I'm finding most US sellers will send you an invoice and by pass the stupid GSP
just ask 🙂

Hi guys, PayPal has found in my favour and is refunding the item cost plus shipping costs. Im glad its sorted and I will get my money back but would have preferred to have the item as now I have to try and find another reasonably priced one. Really think I will be avoiding GSP in future. Thanks for your help guys 🙂

All thanks to your seller.
Paypal disputes are not settled in 24 hours or less. The refund would have come direct from your seller so she deserves all the thanks and good feedback for a speedy resolution of the problem.
