And get the seller a defect if the buyer has to wait 15 minutes at the counter to collect the item. No thanks.

For the service to work efficiently the seller has to put the special code on the parcel which is provided by ebay when the buyer goes through checkout and chooses the click and collect from Woolies Postage option. They also have to upload the tracking details to ebay. I think that most problems will occur if sellers don't follow the correct guidelines for using the service.

My seller added the code to my order details (which I presume is the 'eCP' prefix) and uploaded the tracking details - re my initial post I was fully able to track the package as it travelled around in a circle for 4 days, ending up where it is now, at a Woolworths redistribution depot, where it was marked as 'Delivered' - and thus no longer in the hands of Aust Post from here on.

My seller followed all the guidelines you mention in your post (to my knowledge), but take note of what happened, regardless.

As an edit for added community info -

After contacting ebay to find out exactly how the scheme is supposed to operate (which turns out of course, just as you logically expect - direct from the seller to the nominated store) I was informed there are a number of other buyers in the same position who ebay are also attempting to track down where exactly their parcels went to.

For a scheme which kicked off in Feb, there are evidently random bugs in the process, almost 4 months later. Just a headsup and warning what you may/may not encounter if you choose this shipping option. Which I certainly wouldn't again lol (and the very apologetic Woolies rep agreed with me heh)

I wouldnt list any items to go that delivery way either.

Its just even more hands adding risk to the delivery to go wrong.

especially with regards to insurance, once woolworths signed for it,

insurance is off the hook. Lost or damaged from then is well who knows

pays for it, but the buyer is covered or are they, or is it the seller would lose out.

When it should be woolworths or ebay or paypal footing the bill.

They certainly aiming to benefit from it.

Hus - no doubt there are still random bugs in the system as it is still a fairly new system.

Mind you there are still lots of bugs in the AP system and they have been delivering parcels for years. I currently have a parcel bouncing between Qld and NSW and back again....must have collected enough Frequent Flyers points to take a trip around the world by now...LOL  I have another parcel which has bounced around within Qld for a couple of weeks, then to WA when it should have been delivered to a buyer in Victoria.

Hey I agree Jen! Nothing is going to be perfect of course...I was just a bit perplexed by what had happened (not knowing if I'd misunderstood the process or not lol)

But as you say, there are often bugs in an established system like AP too...considering their volume, would have to be expected at some point I guess. Had an ebay purchase from the States last September and it finally got here mid-Feb...way too late to leave feedback! I'm pretty sure it fell down the back of a desk in Customs for a few months lol

Best of luck with your parcels!

Last edit on this: My parcel was found and turned up today, so I was able to go claim it. Bit of a relief!

In no way inclined to use this service again lol but I gotta say that the Woolies rep was great - not only did she personally get onto their redirection centre for me and chase it up when I first enquired, but she kept a special eye out for it and gave me a personal call at 8:30 this morning as soon as it hit the store. Much kudos to her!

So all is good, I'm very glad it ended well. But I'd be leery of trusting this service...as ebay said, there were other buuyers in my situation so it wasn't a one-off glitch in the matrix heh.
