why do so many Aus sellers not ship to NZ?

I've recently bought items from the UK and the US (nightmare), and would prefer to buy from Aus, but it seems all sellers, atleast for the items I want, do not ship to NZ.

Is there a reason for that? Is it just NZ or worldwide?

I think you will find many sellers just don't ship Internationally in general.

More complicated when listing, more expensive if there is a return and many probably haven't thought about doing it.

NZ is more like a sister country to Aus and maybe there are some sellers that will if you ask politely. Smiley Wink

Just noticed your account is registered in UK. If you change region to NZ on your account, that may allow you to purchase from more sellers. You might be blocked from buying because your account is registered as UK.

By rights it should be based on primary postal address on the account (Change that if you haven't) but with eBay you never know. Their blocks don't always make sense.

I will send to NZ, but only if specifically asked. I have 'no international shipping' as my default.

Postage from Australia to NZ is roughly twice the domestic cost, so that tends to be a bit offputting for a lot of people. Some think that just because NZ is closer to the East Coast than all of WA, postage shouldn't be more.

I allow shipping to NZ, but nowhere else in the world. I've never had anyone from NZ buy from me. A lot have stopped shipping overseas because it's too much drama (not to mention costly) if something goes wrong. Most that stopped did so around the time the eBay MBG came in to effect. It opened the door to scammers.

I personally will ship to most countries around the world, includining NZ, but not on ebay. (Like tippy, I did once have NZ as my only international shipping destination, but only ever had one sale in all the time I offered it, and most sellers advised that to sell to NZ, you need to go through Trade Me as it is far more popular over there than eBay).

The reason I opt not to ship internationally here anymore (aside from the reasons already mentioned) is eBay's FVF on postage costs, which means the higher the postage costs to send to an international destination, the more it costs to sell the same item. Some sellers find that - along with all the other issues ebay creates for international shipping, like delivery estimates created in fantasy land - acceptable and viable, but unfortunately I don't, so removed all international postage options.

Personally I do offer shipping to NZ and a handful of other countries, but to be honest, I might only get one sale from NZ in a year.

Don't know why the sales from that part of the world are so minimal.
