Yes, that used to happen to me in reverse years ago. I am in Aust and would find myself looking at ebay and getting annoyed that prices were in US dollars. Then realise I'd suddenly been transferred to the US site after looking at something.
If ever you find yourself on an ebay world tour, there's an easy way to get back. If it is showing as "G'day mate' on the top of the home page, scroll down to the very bottom and you should see this option below. (I have put an arrow there). Just click and choose the nation you want, in your case USA.
All you need to do is as Dave said. Remove the .au from the address in the address bar. Way easier. The option you show is only available on the ebay home page. It doesn't show at the bottom of any search results, or any item that you click on.

We probably told you six months ago to log out of eBay Australia and log back into eBay US.
If you posted on the MEMBER boards, you weren't talking to eBay, just us AUSTRALIAN members.
The solution is in your hands...

Up the top where it says what site you are viewing.
Here it says 'community.ebay.com.au'. Delete the '.au'.
You can't switch it anywhere but eBay, as it is not relevant to any other site.

Why have you not fixed it?
Given you believe other members can change it to how you want it
If you want to see US dollars, you look at the US site
The site for OZ is not going to show a US dollars no matter how much you want it to and nor should it

I only mentioned it as leafbinder said he had logged off and back in and it was still showing G'day mate. So, if he is on that home page, it would be one way to get back to US site.
Or of course change the address bar. But it is always useful to know a couple of different ways to do things.
