A lot of foreign listings like to use Sydney as their "location". That is one reason, from what I see in my searches. Selecting Australia Only (rather than on eBay Australia, which gets thousands of Asian listings).

When did it never used to happen? Given you started this thread FIVE YEARS ago, it was obviously happening then.
So if the help you were offered back then didn't work, what is the point of resurrecting the thread now. I doubt that aspect of eBay has changed.
I'm not sure what your 'comment' about needing more turnover rather than better service means, but I'm sure you will let us know in 2024.

Wow, this thread gives a whole new meaning to thinking about the replies before posting a reply.

It is one annoying aspect of ebay, I will admit.
Back in the day (and it is a distant day now), international sales were routinely listed after the Australian items. That was, I think, probably because most people were wary of trying to buy from overseas. There was no such thing as paypal. You usually either did a bank transfer of money online or went into a branch to pay into someone's account.
What we have now with paypal is instant payment at our fingertips.
If I had my way, I would prefer ebay to still automatically list how it used to, with Aussie sellers of an item first, followed by international sellers.
And it is majorly annoying to actually tick the box for Australia only or even local only (within 50 km, for eg) and then get several UK listings come up. Clearly UK listings, too. Not ones that are really China or somewhere masquerading as Australian.
But the fact that you posted about it 5 years back and nothing has changed tells you something. That is, that it is not a priority issue for ebay. Maybe not many people even bother ticking the box any more to see Aust only goods. Maybe a lot of buyers actually like the Chinese stuff because it is cheap. Who knows! All I know is that if it seems to generate sales, ebay will stick to it, they won't change things unless they perceive it to be a problem for the majority.
