purchased an item that was supposed to be coming from Australia and after purchase i see the seller is actually in Malaysia. Can i cancel and recieve a full refund? how does this happen when i tick from Australia only in the search criteria?

It is up to the seller if they accept cancellations, although in these cases, if  they said in the description the  item will be posted from Australia and it is actually being sent from overseas, it may be worth ringing ebay and speaking to them (best to speak to a supervisor)

Because ebay allows sellers to put the item location as anywhere, and ebay are not going to stop doing so, it is a good idea to look where the seller is registered also

There is a chance the *item* might be here, some overseas sellers do have drop shopping. 

Have you messaged the seller to ask where the item will be sent from?

What did the postage method show?

Does there feedback suggest they send from overseas? 

It happens because 'Australia only'  only means where the seller has SAID the item is, not where the seller is registered (where the seller lives)

If you tick "Australia only" in the search, and there are none in Australia, it will say "0 found in Australia"  "x (number) on International sites" and then proceed to show you those.  Even when there are some in Australia, it will list the International ones under the Australian ones. You need to check the individual seller and see where they say they are located, you cannot assume that the listing is an Australian one because you only searched Australia.  If the listing said they were in Australia and they are not, then ring eBay.  If the seller clearly says they are in Malaysia, then you did not notice this before purchasing, and it is then up to the Seller if they will allow you to cancel, contact them in this case.

It says post from Darwin and says seller location Australia. A clear attempt to mislead purchasers and I have requested a refund.

Contact the seller

If they say it is posted from within Australia from their warehouses, ask where that warehouses is and the address to confirm it is really there.

They will either ignore you or reply we can not do that, then you know it is NOT in Oz at all and leave feedback to tell others item location is NOT in Australia as advertised.

Everything pointed to an Aussie seller till I received purchase confirmation and it had a Malaysian address under the sellers name.

Clearly??? If this listing says posts from Darwin and seller location says Australia I would hardly call that clearly. Quite obviously the Australia only option isn’t worth a pinch of nanny goat sh.t...
