Is it possible to cancel a bid as I have made an offer on the wrong item

If it was an offer you made you are not obliged to finish the transaction, if it was a bid on an item then yes you retract your bid.

If the offer is accepted then the buyer is obliged to finish the transaction.  You cannot go around making offers and not following through when the offers are accepted.
