Heads up about groups

OK.. So it was thought that the mods didn't read the groups and we were free to post whatever.. It seems that this is not the case, and the mods are actually reading groups.. 

Just letting everyone know in case someone ends up getting slapped

I know you can get a slap in group by getting reported. it happened to some in other groups before.

But do mods actually read groups to find violations without report??

It wasn't in this group..  The word came from another group leader saying that someone in that group got slapped for a post and no one in the group reported the poster, so I guess the mods do read through the groups

I do wonder though how they knew it was no-one in that group.  In one of the other groups a member got slapped, and everyone swore it was not them who made the report, but then we realize it was one of them. who did.

I think it was a private group where they only allowed certain people in..  Would be pretty bad form to report someone in the same group as you

I belong to a few private groups. Private group doesn't mean no one report others. And everybody denying reporting doesn't mean they actually didn't do it.

I've never had slaps in groups but I saw a few members got slapped 😞 

And no one put hand up for reporting.

No, they didn't, but since that particular person was removed from the group in question, none of our members has been slapped and no messages have ever been deleted by the mods. 🙂

I'm in 3 private groups and in 2 of those people got slaps for talking about the same thing.  I don't think the mods particularly read but will come in looking for something if they're asked too.

It was related to something that was posted on CS and I think a complaint was made to the mods, who must've gone searching for certain posters.

BTW no-one in either of those groups reported any posts

Almost certainly Deb as I only belong to 2 groups aside from this one, both are private and I'm the leader of one of them, and this is the only group to which you and I both belong.

We've only ever had one post reported and removed, and although the person who did so denied pressing the button, she was removed from the group anyway, and since then, we've not had the slightest bit of trouble.

It's not as if we don't drop the occasional norti word or dodgy subject either, both of which make me very much doubt that the mods visit groups unless specifically asked to. 🙂
