Clothing Steamers - Any Reviiews much appreciated

I am looking at purchasing a clothes steamer and feel it would be best to get a good quality machine commerical type steamer or at least one that actually works.

I have seem hand held steamers being used in shops,  with a long tube, hand held where the water part sits ont he ground

Could anyone let me know if they have a steamer they are happy with.  as I bought one that was supposed to do everything, ha ha and of course when I tried to use for clothing,  did not work at all and I paid around $100.

thanks

My current $59 model from Kmart is brilliant.

Does the job it is intended to do.

I have researched professional models and have yet to pinpoint any standout features that would make an upgrade and the $$$ investment worth it.

If I was looking for a new one the only additional feature I would look for is a longer hose as I am tall and don't like bending to steam.

As with everything some fabric types respond better to steaming than others ie. cotton shirts   I steam to get to get wrinkles out, but then after they are 100% dry, would run the iron over some of these as they can tend to look a bit "limp" after steaming and I like to iron them with a tad of crisp spray starch for appearance (and IMO it has a lovely "fresh" scent)

How you use the steamer is the trick IMO, you need to ensure the base unit is always lower than the hose and attachment to avoid "splutter" and not position the end too close to silk or other delicate garments.

I sell new and used skiwear and have a couple of the cheaper steamers - the Tobi and one from Aldi. I find them great, especially with gear that has been stored for a long time and has become very creased or smells from mildew or mothballs or whatever.

I have found it very important however, to regularly, and reasonabley frequently,  descale them as per the manufacturer's directions,  as the scale seems to build up quickly and does reduce performance (this can depend on your local water supply too).

Overall, I think they're great for restoring body, and freshness to clothing - especially before photographing.

Hope this helps,

Marina.
