Aust pottery vase Can't read backstamp.

Hi all, I can't read the inscised signature on the base of this vase.

I think it has '97 near the bottom but it "feels" older than 18 years old.

It is 15.5cms tall, the top rim is nowhere near level.

There is a name at the top then a two or three letter word "--- Pottery" and then what appears to be Sydney.

The sides are quite thin

Greens & browns on the exterior, rich buttery yellow interior.

Photos of base are shocking but the best I can get at the moment.

The base has been partially glazed, the unglazed areas feel rough like the pot was sat on fabric or masonite when damp.

Thanks .....momma

Hi nanny, long time no see!!

You are spot on.

I tried every method I could think of to decipher the writing.

White shoe polish, pencil rubbing, smoke from candle, tracing with a scribe. I did think it was Art Pottery but Google wasn't very helpful there.

The '97 at the bottom might be just 97 for a shape no?? I didn't think it was 1997 but 1897 was too old.

Thank you so much, I am off to Google  Tesmic ....momma

Vegemite works a treat also. Rub it on and then wipe off the excess to reveal.

Hi horizon, I knew about the vegemite trick but the glaze is too dark, hence the other methods.

Thanks anyway .....momma
