Hi
I have a small trinket case in silver (not sure if it is plate or real) it has a hallmark underneath and I have exhausted my searching skills. The mark has a banner (folded like a ribbon at the top) in which the letters M T O (or A) are written. Underneath the banner is a bell with a crown in the centre (inside the bell).
Can anyone help. Thanks in advance.

It would be silver plate. There are several mentions of similar MTC trinket boxes if you Google.

Thanks to you both for that information. I was googling madly and thought the mark looked more Enlgish than anything else. But Occupied Japan would explain it. Thanks so much. Gives me more to go on.
Cheers
