How many coins at the most do coin sellers include in combined postage?

Hi,

I was just wondering what is the maximum number of coins coin sellers would include in a single envelope for combined postage.

Auspost's small letter regular post allows a maximum of 250g according to its website. A 50 cents coin, for example, weighs about 16g each, so for those who have sold coins on eBay, would you put up to 15 50c coins in a single envelope when combining postage?

Don't go by weights.

It is purely up to the seller how they want to pack n post to cover themselves.

And combined into one package doesn't necessarily mean discounted postage cost.

Best to check with a seller before purchase.

I have sold coins and I sometimes have had them in capsules, coin folders or made into rolls.

Meaning they can't go as letter only parcel.

Once again each seller is different.

Although not a specialist coin seller, I send many items by letter rate.

There are a number of things to consider here. First SMALL letter rate (which you ask about) can be no thicker than 5mm, so if you have any protection at all around a coin (see Kopes answer) it would need to go large letter rate, which can be 20mm thick (and weigh up to 500g). If the condition of a coin was important (and I assume it would be) then each individual coin would need some wrapping / protection, to make sure they did not rub against each other in transit, resulting in damage. The type of protection Kopes describes may or may not be suitable for large letter rate. I use a series of different size small flat boxes to send jewellery, buttons, medals, (even coins occasionally) large letter rate, but I would certainly not be sending anything over $20 without the tracking built into letter registration, which costs around $4 extra.

But again what Kopes has said is the important thing. Each seller will have their own method; some will offer free postage, some will offer to combine, some will be selling in multiple lots anyway. If the seller's terms are not made clear in their listing, ASK before you bid or buy. As Kopes says a seller is under no obligation to combine postage; on the other hand they may be happy to do so if it means multiple sales.

In a padded envelope maybe but not in an ordinary envelope.

Rule of thumb never post coins in an ordinary envelope,it could tear then coins fall out,it could get wet then all the coins will fall out.

Most coin sellers post in padded or carded envelopes.

And combined postage will go by weight of the coins.

And if you buy 15 coins then perhaps they will all go into the one postage if the seller chooses.
