ID of people in photos.

Okay...quiz night questions. Three old photos. Can anyone help with names.

Photo one - three people. Back of the photo has : Herbet Brown, Annie Q, Betty (if l'm reading them right).
The only clues l have is Australian, Early 1920 - 1930 and theatre / stage shows.

Re: ID of people in photos.

This last one is Hazel Harris & Wesley Pierce - they danced together in a production called "The O'Brien Girl" (1924)

Re: ID of people in photos.

Wow. Thank you for that. Was having a hard time reading the signatures at the bottom of it.
These three photos are the biggest ones but there are nearly 50 smaller ones, all of actors and actresses from the same era. Most of signed by the person in the photo.
I am hoping that if l can get an idea of who / what / when on the bigger ones, it may shed some light on the smaller ones.

Thank you for taking the time to ID that couple.

One more to go.

Re: ID of people in photos.

And thanks to your lead, l've found out more about Hazel Harris. She married Wesley Pierce, becoming Hazel Pierce. Wesley passed away early and she went on to acting in I Love Lucy (often a stand in for Lucile Ball) and had appeared with other Hollywood names such as Jack Benny.

Isn't it good when it all falls together!

Now to work out the first photo.

Re: ID of people in photos.

For the first one....thinking 'Herbert Brenon'.

If l search for that plus Anna and Betty, l get 1924 Peter Pan movie.

Wonder if l'm on the right track.

Re: ID of people in photos.

Herbert Brenon was a noted early film director - there is a photo of him here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert_Brenon

It would really only make sense if that was a director going over a script with 2 of the actors (which is quite possible.) What about this one:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Rustle_of_Silk

The Rustle of Silk is a lost[1] 1923 silent film romance drama directed by Herbert Brenon and starring Betty Compson. It was produced by Famous Players-Lasky and distributed by Paramount Pictures. It is based on a novel by writer Cosmo Hamilton.[2][3]

Cast

That would give you Anna Q and Betty.  Have a look at the google images of these people and see what you think (remembering they were actors and so would consequently have changed their appearance quite often.) I think Anna Q is almost certain (having such an unusual name). Betty Compson was the lead so it would make sense to be conferring with the director.
