As a new collecter of pocket watches can someone pease the diference between no 12,14 16 etc. Is this the size if the watch or is it a type of movement. Plus why is the number 12 less popular than say the sixteen

Its probably talking about the Jewels. Each gear sits on a in pin which sits in/between a bearing point. These points where quite often ruby's. Hence the the term 12 Jewel, 14 Jewel etc

yes they do. i have a few , but its wristwatches that do it for me. this site is not bad,http://mb.nawcc.org/ specialist sites are probably best . for horological terms etc .
