Raising invoices

Can I raise an invoice with more than 40 items

I sell single stamps and sometimes will sell 50 to 60 items

When I raise an invoice and the customer has more than 40 it will add any over the 40 items to balance owing

and charge postage on each item

As I combine postage these charges are way over the top

Can any one tell me what I am doing wrong

Cheers

Dave

Nothing wrong with what you're doing, just that there's a limit of 40 items per invoice.

We just let the buyer know that we'll be sending 2 invoices, one with the postage cost, and the other with no postage added.

It's annoying, and the buyer has to make 2 payments (which also costs us another 30c fee), but it's the only way to do it, and has been for as long as we've been selling.

Thanks for your response

My real problem is the way postage is charged

I combine postage so the example might help explain my problem

I raise an invoice for 40 items at 10.00

I combine postage for 1.40

Send invoice for 11.40

When my customer goes to pay they are charged  10.00 plus 56.00 postage(40 items x 1.40)

or when they go to pay any items in their bin not invoiced  are added plus delivery on each item

I'm not sure why they're being charged extra postage when you send an invoice.  Are you changing the postage cost in the correct place?

When we send an invoice for 40 items, with each having an individual postage cost of $1.10, the amount in the postage cost field originally shows as $44, which is 40 x $1.10.

We change that amount to the correct postage cost ($1.10, $2.20 or whatever the actual cost is), send the invoice, and the buyer is charged that amount, plus the total cost of the items purchased (less postage).

If they do buy any more items not included on the invoice, they are then charged extra postage, but that's not a problem with the invoice as such, just those items not being included on the invoice.

Could it be that the buyers are using the Ebay app on tablet or phone? Combined invoices cannot be shown on the eBay app so if a buyer pays through the app, regardless of how you may have changed the invoice, they will be charged the original postage cost on each item. Before I send a combined invoice I send a message advising that it cannot be viewed on the eBay app and ask that the buyer pay through the eBay classic site on a desktop or laptop, or use their device to log into the eBay classic site ebay.com.au. For BIN items I assume you can avoid these problems by setting up postage rules but they would not apply to my items so I don't use them.
