Hi all, I was given this jug quite a few years ago but am unsure if it a genuine vintage or something made in China. There are no markings and the pattern appears to have been stencilled on not painted under a glaze. It is a little rough in areas. Thanks.

It looks vintage to me and it is not a milk jug.....the lid, closed spout and hole in the handle indicates it it for hot liquids like tea, coffee, hot chocolate or hot water.

Thanks very much for the information. That does make sense with the hole in the handle. Thanks

Looking at it again I think you can rule out teapot.....it is too tall and the spout is too short.

I would be thinking Bavarian chocolate pot, probably 1900-1920s or 30s. If you Google antique bavarian chocolate pot - images you will find lots similar.
