Wedgwood Plate

Could someone please help me with some details about this plate? I.e. how would I describe it etc? Is it worthwhile trying to sell it or should I just find someone who owns a cat and let them use it for a milk saucer?

(pics in following posts)

It is about 17cm in diameter.

Still in the original box and packaging etc.

From memory, it was made from the clay dug out of the Homebush site and only 2000 of them were made.

Thanks in advance.

The white bits are all raised and the white bit in the middle is actually the Australian Flag.

The blue olympic rings are also raised.

There is no other writing etc on the front of the plate.

That's the only other writing or marks which are on the back of the plate.

This is a bit of cardboard that came with it - it's actually square and flat with a Navy Blue edge - it's not faded or bent or anything.

This is the sticker on the side of the box. The box is the real wedgwood one it all came in (made of cardboard). The box has a few marks on the top lid.

and by the looks of that sticker, if I am interpreting things correctly it is plate number 6 - but there is no documentation that I have that says it is #6 of 2000 for example.

something like 'Wedgwood Blue Jasper Ware Olympic Commemorative Plate in Original Packaging' would be about right crikey. 🙂

i'm not sure as far as demand goes for these goes though.

Important too to put Sydney 2000 early in the title, as Wedgwood seem to have made one for every Olympics.

Hard to gauge value or interest; people seem to ASK a lot for the older ones, but prices realised are not that great.

If I was trying to sell it I would give it 1 go at auction for $19 (selling only to Oz) and do it quickly before postal charges go up on 8 April. If that seems too much effort for a possible $19, then by all means use it as an up-market pet plate. Or donate it to Vinnies.
