Hi, how can you tell approx age of a item by it's patent number...i have an old cast iron money box like a jolly **bleep** style but in a sargents uniform...I was told that it was not an original because that model only came out in aluminium? But it has a patent number cast onthe inside of it which leads me to believe it's original....any help appreciated thanks

these have not just been reproduced once, but almost continuously since the 70's . things like the casting and the fasteners used are a bit of a guide, but there's really a need to compare it with an original one.

Just be careful claiming its "rare" "unique" or such, because just as lakeland has said they were and still are being reproduced.
