.Hi all, can anyone please tell me what a 732 hallmark stands for. Is it gold plated.

Its definitely a 732

There is only:


375 = 9 crt


585 = 14 crt


750 = 18 crt


916 = 22 crt


990 = 24 crt and


999 = pure


 


so your 732 makes no sense. possibilly just a model number of your jewellery? or a hoaxster trying to imitate gold?

That is a design pattern number - a lot of Australian costume jewellery companies in the 1950's 1960's used similar markings. Like Arcansas and Barcs. Is that a sort of crowned crest mark I can see at 12 o'clock - directly above the number  - if so, it is Barcs.

I have a brooch marked 752, with tested diamonds and an aquamarine and it's definitely gold.

While I am not doubting your brooch, this one is a design number - I have many similar pieces of marked Australian jewellery. And as I said I THINK I can faintly see a Barcs logo.

Wow you guys are so good.  You are spot on siddies...there is a crested crown mark. So my brooch is a Barcs.
