I stopped selling some years ago, and also shop here less and less. Just because I cannot find here what I want, but I still usually check eBay before other platforms. Recently though something I wanted came up, and as I needed it sort of yesterday, once I found listing with item location stated as the city where I live, I bought it. Then I noticed that the delivery time is 4-5 weeks, with dispatch within 3 days. So obviously it is coming from China. I tried to cancel but the seller did not respond. I reported the item for false location, and got reply that there is nothing wrong with the listing. Yes I know eBay is trying to keep sellers happy, but I am unlikely to come back in hurry.

No, I have not given FB as yet. I did look and in that spot where the country used to be is blank. But i have before bought from sellers registered in China but with warehouse in Australia, and the item was delivered within week.

The seller that last gave you feedback ?
Their feedback is in the gutters and plainly shows they're registered in China.

Hang on, why didnt you check the EDD before purchase, and sellers don't have to cancel a sale, just because you couldnt be bothered checking the EDD if you need it yesterday.

Yes, the one that gave me FB. I still cannot see where it says China. It used to be on the FB page.
Anyway, they just responded and said they have sent me cancellation request. But nothing came. How long does it take to come through? There is nothing in eBay messages or in my emails. I thought it is instant.

It was listed in my city, and I did check when they dispatch, and they said within 3 days. If you dispatch within 3 days from the same city, it does not take 5 weeks. So, something in the listing is a LIE. It is deceptive. I have had pretty hectic time, with death in the family, and all sorts of things happening, I missed the EDD until after I bought it. I do shop on various other platforms, and none have incorrect info about where the item is located.

You need to click on the "about" button to see location

Wow and you purchased from a seller with 95.7% feedback. Please don't blame Ebay if you dont check EDD or Feedback before purchase.
when I look up items they have for sale, it does say Melbourne or New Zealand, but the very next line says the EDD, a little hard to miss.

eBay doe not try to keep sellers happy, eBay is all about the buyer
What is happening is the same thing that has been happening for decades
You did not look at the sellers feedback
or the estimated delivery date
Both clearly and easily available
You would also know that buyers cannot cancel
The country the seller is registered in is on their feedback page
Along with the pages of negs
But even without looking at those
You still had the estimated delivery date and the shockingly bad feedback in front of you on the spot
Even the screenshot you posted shows how garbage the feedback is

Theres things they could do to make it easier for buyers so they don't need to go to another page.
