Did anybody watched it? I saw one episode last Friday and other last night, and there is more coming. These are true stories based on diaries of people from all the countries involved, both soldiers and civilians. It is so interesting to see how the war was from other perspective. How populations of Europeans starved, how the propaganda claimed about the "other side" killing babies, how women went to do jobs they could not even imagine doing before the war.
it was on SBS and can be seen on iview

It is so sad, so true and so compelling. I agree well worth watching even though a lot is not pretty - all 16 yr olds to 35 yr olds should be made to watch it IMO. ....and those who may have forgotten what war is really all about.

I have just started rereading LesCarlyon's "Gallipoli." He writes so well and explains everything so clearly, but OMG it is hard to hard to read without weeping. The sheer muddleheaded amateurishness of the British War Office and bullheaded incompetence of some of the commanders is almost beyond comprehension.

The ones who should be made to watch it are the "For God And Country" politicians who somehow managed to avoid combat, and whose offspring did so too.............

....and something niggling at my brain tells me that our present politicians have plans afoot for putting our young in the 'Battleline's in the not so distant future.......maybe send a reminder to Abbott and Co. to watch too would not be too bad an idea.

It is just so depressing that in 100 years we have not learned anything. ๐
