21,000 faulty NBN connections claimed

Another LABOR failure and botched policy.......

One of an Abbott Government’s toughest jobs will be to clean up the NBN mess and stop the bleeding of our billions:

THE company building Labor’s $37.4 billion National Broadband Network could be forced to repair tens... after cutting corners in the construction processes to boost the number of homes passed by the massive infrastructure project.

The Australian can reveal that as of last week, connections to as many as 21,000 - one in eight - of the 163,500 existing homes and businesses passed by the fibre network were considered to contain defects in the network construction…

The defects mean that network connections to thousands of homes and businesses, which have been classified as “ready for service”, may require repairs before users can access the internet on the new network.

NBN Co last night disputed the figures, admitting there were significant defects but insisting the total number was lower than the [NBN internal] figures obtained by The Australian.

MM another considered factual post but nothing you or anybody else say, you will not dent the fanatical defence of this disaster.

Why do you call it a disaster?

Do you know anything about it?

I do. It costs me less, a lot less in fact, for a vastly superior service.

Who are you to call others fanatical?

FN: "Turnbull invests in FTTP around the world and invests in companies involved with the build
What exactly does that mean + references.

"Turnbull confirmed it would be replaced with copper." reference please

"The HFC stays for Pay TV, just not BB."
Not Optus HFC which was to go, Telstra was to lose HFC Internet and decommission copper, Why if the ALP NBN is so good?

"It's about ubiquity. Do you not think the people in HFC areas that can't access HFC should go without?"  Without what?
They should have access to what is available or intended, but not at the expense of restricting/shutting down perfectly good HFC and copper phone  networks.

"As I've said before, just because you have a half decent HFC connection doesn't mean the rest of the country has access to the same. Most MDUs in HFC areas don't even have access to the HFC. "

And how is the NBN currently managing with MDU's?

"In October last year the government-owned company admitted it was still working out how to connect apartments to the NBN because each MDU was different and there was no single method for connecting them."

You miss my overall point FN, I am achieving adequate speeds with HFC that FFTN will also provide. What is the expected average NBN bundle expected ?

"Many don't even get 2Mbps download and can't upload from home" can't upload from home?, explain please

" Most MDUs in HFC areas don't even have access to the HFC."  neither currently do MDU's have access to the NBN. But  when they do why insist that HFC where connected be discontinued
"In October last year the government-owned company admitted it was still working out how to connect apartments to the NBN because each MDU was different and there was no single method for connecting them."

It should never have been turned into a political football. It's not the ALP NBN, it's just the NBN. It's for the people, all the people in the country.
I agree, but it is political now, and most people have no idea of the technology involved, let alone the politics/history.

Yes FTTH is the ultimate, but why does it need to be a legislate government monopoly, that not only has forced its competitors to comply with its wishes, but  is closing down/restricting perfectly good HFC and copper networks. That is business thuggery , or Stalinist doctrine.

Listen to the hours of joint committee and senate estimates committee hearings and you'll find out.

October last year was a long time ago. They have started the roll out to MDUs and have implemented a strategy to communicate with the body corporates and bulding owners

The people that can't upload don't have a good enough service to upload with.

The copper network is not perfectly good everywhere, hence the need to upgrade it.

I don't sit at home all day with time to pull up all the facts to attach to the posts like you seem to have.  Do a search of the investments Turnbull and his wife have and find out what it means.  Or take a short cut and access links through http://stevej-on-nbn.blogspot.com.au/ , http://michaelwyres.com/http://sortius-is-a-geek.com/ or http://savethenbn.com/

Perhaps you might like to peruse posts 8,9,10 in case you missed them.

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

or you could read the answer to those posts. I'm for advancing technology not for clinging to the past.

I too an in favour of advancements to technology, but not at the expense  making logical and well informed progress instead of accepting a "snake oli" panacea that is supposed to cure all ills.

It is often slated that ultrafast internet will raise Australia's economy, I would like to know how that will come about.

It has been said the it will improve medical treatment I can not see that surgery will be performed over the internet.

Can you please explain to me how having a 100 Mbps or a 1Gbps connection will inprove a normal household's economy?

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

You tell me why Australia doesn't deserve a decent network.

And tell me how we would get one without the Govt starting a company to create one.

If you don't know how it can improve medical services, how it will help with education and improve productivity google is your friend.

Nobody ever said we will use 1Gbps plans at home yet but if you build an infrastructure project you do it for the future as well as today.
