24 Hour cat curfews being proposed

Yes Please!

Currently they are looking at the idea for areas close to conservation areas but, boy oh boy, would I like to see it extended to the suburbs! I am so over all the cats fighting, defecating, spraying in my backyard and terrorising my animals.

lol.

I actually didn't mean it that way. Was thinking about attaching itself to the land kind of root. But I suppose your meaning also makes sense.

I'm pretty strict with our cats. they're never let out too early in the morning and they're always brought in well before dark. I'm lucky that they're not wanderers , they're always just hanging out in the garden but may be all cats and dogs should be restricted in conservation areas?? reading the article it points  out that  a lot of people can't afford cat enclosures which in turn would lead to the dumping of cats.... so that wouldn't be good either

It is supposed to be illegal in my suburb to leave cats out at night and I really only see the odd one every now and then.

Cats can travel a huge distance and create an awful lot of damage in the time between early morning and sunset.

Neither dog nor cat should be allowed to leave an owners property. For a dog owner that means a sturdy fence and a gate. For a cat that means an enclosure. I doubt if many cats would be content to stay within their own backyard like yours do.

the odd thing is Martini is that these 2 were feral kittens that lived in our backyard, so perhaps they remember when life was harder, they're always happy to be indoors.  I don't think any cats should be outside at night, the awful fighting, the hunting and, they can get run over- anything

Hope Vic follows suit, along with compulsory de sexing   .....  If people cant afford to build an enclosure, perhaps they shouldn't get a cat    ..... I must have suitable fencing/gates etc for my dogs, so why should cat owners be exempt?

De sexing of domestic cat/dogs is not compulsory in Vic, Debra .... there may be some councils that insist on it, most dont

In the world I grew up in there was no such thing as a cat enclosure and it was a happy place.

Someone else feels differently.  A cat from Mandurah in WA was beheaded and left on the owners front lawn this week.

How dumb is it that by law all cats and dogs have to be registered and you just pay more if they're not de-sexed? They really should change that
