It almost defies belief, doesn't it. I think you are too kind though, calling them imbeciles.

Wasn't it reported as 19/20 kids locked in cars at temps of up to 46 Deg C over the last 2 days?
That is still 19/20 too many children left in cars though.

some people should never have children............I hope they all get fines or jail or both.
There is no excuse to leave children or animals locked in cars.........they get enough warnings about it, but anyone with any common sense should know without the warnings not to do it.

Quite a few of those were accidently locked in cars, with the keys inside and had to be extricated by emergency services.

I have done that twice years ago (by accident, not in a heatwave). Both children in the car, secured in their car seats. Eldest would have been around 3 yo, (youngest <1yo.)

I did it once with 3 children strapped in, along with my keys, had a massive panic, asked a passerby to go get my OH who was working nearby............he arrived post haste...... and he calmly opened the tailgate.....................

My friend accidentally locked her twins in the car the other day. Or, to be more precise. her son locked himself and his sister in the car. And threw the keys down onto the floor. Very hot day here in Perth, passer by refused to help her smash a window. Lesson learned not to let the kids play with they keys while strapping the children into their car seats.
