A NASTY MIX OF INCOMPETENCE AND VITRIOL IS TANYA

During the brief absence of Opposition leader Bill Shorten, we had an opportunity to view the true colours of his Deputy, Tanya Plibersek, and they were not pretty.

Apart from appearing to be totally unaware of standing orders and being visibly out of place at the despatch box, she showed just how concerned she was at the Holden workers’ plight.

Holden’s Mike Devereux had informed both major Parties of Detroit’s decision to up anchor by 2017 but had requested the courtesy of allowing him to inform his workers first.

A reasonable request that the Government respected. But not our Tanya.

She couldn’t help herself. The opportunity to one-up Joe Hockey was so irresistible she prematurely blurted out the announcement as part of a question, stupidly sheeting home the blame to Hockey for influencing Detroit’s decision. 

The families of workers watching Question Time, or listening on the radio, were made aware of the decision while Devereux was still in the process of explaining the situation to his workforce.

Holden has been existing on borrowed time, and taxpayer funds, for years and it was an announcement the Government had been expecting, as was the Labor Government expecting Ford’s.

Plibersek then proceeded to a Press conference where she announced 200,000 workers would lose their jobs.

No, Tanya, even your union mates say the figure is 16,000 and those workers have almost 4 years’ notice. In fact there will be hardly a ripple in the employment figures by the time 2017 comes around.

But there will be more than a ripple in union membership figures as workers drift into meaningful, alternative employment in the interim.

Madam Plibersek and Comrade Shorten’s concern is not for workers. They are concerned at an ever-diminishing union support base.

Anyway, why are nasty, ambitious and ideologically-driven women attracted to Labor?

And one ponders what type of bloke is attracted to this type of woman.

ambitious to get the top job which she will because Shorten is a dud.

The thing I don't like about her is she muses scenarios then spouts them as if that is the real situation.

I smell fear factor with the all out efforts to sully Tanya Plibersek's character, she's a hard worker, competent and her main priority is the people of Australia, she's not interested in the Prime Minstership like Joe, Mr NBN and co.

Why is it ludicrous? Both of us are Sutherland Shire girls and moved in the same circles growing up. I didn't see her through our teens because whilst I wasted my time at the beach and Miranda Fair she turned into the studious nerd.

We met up again by chance when we both moved into the inner city. Her daughter and my daughter are same age and we mix in the same social circles as both our kids go to innercity schools. Our group (all professional mums) meet once a week at the pub next door to her city office and she pops in whenever she can. Not often in the last few years though.

But even if I didn't know her personally, any Sydney city person can easily bump into her at functions, events and talks as she is out and about often and is very approachable. And if you walk past her office (on one of Sydney's busiest streets) you will often see her chatting to passersby in the carpark.

I like Tanya. Feel she is level headed. Would love to meet and chat to her.

I am always amused when a poster decries another poster knowing someone.............it stands to reason that someone will always know someone else, especially if they are normal people who live normal lives...........regardless of what position they hold.

Most NLP voters don't bother commenting on the day to day garbage that is written here by LP supporters, we prefer to comment on any intellegent comments made by any of them or anyone but sadly they are to few. Most of their comments are vicious and angry because they have not yet accepted the change lof government, this is evident by the unprovoked nasty and defamatory comments made by the lokes of LL, nothing but negitive ---- over and over.

Newstart - how can you even say that with a straight face?

There are a lot of threads started (by Labor supporters) at the moment about political issues related to the problems the government is having - all taken up in mainstrem media. You can't deny that the Abbott government hasn't been plagued by contoversial decisions and actions in the last (almost) 100 days?

All of those threads have credible references as well as articulated (whether you agree or not) opinions rather than just word for word copy from radical and biased blogs.

Yet you choose THIS thread to claim that what is posted is "day to day garbage". And you choose THIS thread that vilifies a politician in a particularly nasty and personal way to note that 'other' threads are "evidenced" by "nasty and defamatory comments". And you choose THIS thread to insinuate that all the 'other' threads are "nothing but negitive ---- over and over."

Perhaps next time think about WHERE you are posting your claims and consider the context of the entire thread before shooting off your mouth.

I guess it is easier to regurgitate someone elses opinion, rather than form an intelligant one of your own.
