A Royal Commission into Union corruption? Why?

Is this really necessary given that it is a criminal matter?

Like how much does a Royal Commission cost? $400million? $600million?

And why is it that the Liberal Party are forever making the excuse that the 'public' have concerns and this is the reason they have to do something? ("Senator Brandis confirmed...it would be "irresponsible for the government not to respond in an appropriate way" to public concerns."). What concerns? I think the public is more concerned about the secrecy regarding the governments handling of the asylum seekers yet they don't think THOSE public concerns are important.

for monman

i love this song

The Red Flag (sung to the tune of O' christmas tree) written 1803 by Jim Connel.

The people's flag is deepest red,
It shrouded oft our martyred dead,
And ere their limbs grew stiff and cold,
Their hearts' blood dyed its ev'ry fold.

Then raise the scarlet standard high.
Within its shade we'll live and die,
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer,
We'll keep the red flag flying here.

Look 'round, the Frenchman loves its blaze,
The sturdy German chants its praise,
In Moscow's vaults its hymns are sung
Chicago swells the surging throng.

Then raise the scarlet standard high.
Within its shade we'll live and die,
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer,
We'll keep the red flag flying here.

It waved above our infant might,
When all ahead seemed dark as night;
It witnessed many a deed and vow,
We must not change its colour now.

Then raise the scarlet standard high.
Within its shade we'll live and die,
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer,
We'll keep the red flag flying here.

It well recalls the triumphs past,
It gives the hope of peace at last;
The banner bright, the symbol plain,
Of human right and human gain.

Then raise the scarlet standard high.
Within its shade we'll live and die,
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer,
We'll keep the red flag flying here.

It suits today the weak and base,
Whose minds are fixed on pelf and place
To cringe before the rich man's frown,
And haul the sacred emblem down.

Then raise the scarlet standard high.
Within its shade we'll live and die,
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer,
We'll keep the red flag flying here.

With heads uncovered swear we all
To bear it onward till we fall;
Come dungeons dark or gallows grim,
This song shall be our parting hymn.

Then raise the scarlet standard high.
Within its shade we'll live and die,
Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer,
We'll keep the red flag flying here.

That looks like clever wording to avoid any scutiny of companies involved in the same alleged corruption.

Boris, I am just curious. Have you ever lived under a communist regime?

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

seeing as there has never been a communist country,  my answer to your question is no - if you were to ask me had I lived in a socialist country, my answer would be yes.

I'm having fun.

If you aren't I suggest you find another thread to become involved in. Smiley Wink

So, it seems a union person went to the officials to inform them of some corrupt practices.

The union then starts an investigation of said corruption, which would seem to be a reasonable step.

This Royal Commission can only be to smear unions and smear Labor.

Abbott has already well and truly proved he is incapable of fair play so why the need to keep on attacking without cause.

As the saying goes MUD STICKS.  Say something enough and people believe it.

He is seriously trying to make Australia a one party nation in which elections are obsolete because he has destroyed any an all opposition with his lies and slander.

In that case I take it that you have no knowledge of these countries

China, Cuba,  Laos, North Korea,  Vietnam

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Do you think that people are totally unaware of when they are being lied to?

I give them more credibility, most people are not that gullible as to believe what they are instructed to believe. Hence the last federal election result ๐Ÿ™‚

How would you class the political systems of those countries?
