As a retailer who likes happy customers I would have immediately sacked that sales girl, what right did she have to decide

a potential customer could not afford an item for sale in the shop.

Reminds me of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.

If this is the norm they sure train sales staff in a very odd manner these days, I would have put her off at once.

We had the opposite problem, when my daughter (in her early 20s) went to buy a new car she took a friend along to help, he just happened to drive a very recent model Porche, you should see all the guys in the dealership running around her!  Nobody asked if she has the money LOL
