Just curious about Kosher certification because it keeps getting brought up as a comparison, do they also certify unecessary items, things that are Kosher by default?
Are you referring to halal labels? Have you got one example of halal certification on a food item that is/was certified unecessaryily?
In this thread topic, it is about yoghurt which commonly has gelatine in it. This South Aust dairy companies yogurt doesn't have gelatine in it.
The halal certification they had obtained confirmed the yoghurt doesn't have gelatine in it.
You pretty much answered your own question. No gelatine = already halal = no certification required just a read of the label. Same as milk, its already halal.
So do you know about Kosher?
I thought seeing that kosher is often being raised in this argument that somebody would know if its used to the same extent.

What about those facebook pages you posted links to?
You told us to go to them to learn about the so called travesty which is halal and sharia. There were not many actual news stories on those sites. There was a fair bit of pro white male propaganda with not much fact and lots of hate messages.

You call that NEWS???? You can't be serious!
This is NOT TRUE!
Firstly, we need to understand that halal certification has become a many tentacled octopus, reaching into virtually every area of our lives. Farmers are being forced to pay a halal certification fee for the grass the animals eat. Then a fee for the animals to be transported in halal certified vehicles. In many cases, even the drivers must be muslims now, as they are the only ones who are trusted by muslims to maintain the halal conditions. Slaughter houses pay. Packaging companies pay. Food processors pay. And finally, WE pay.
If we were paying for halal certificates for the grass the cows eat we would know about it. This is grossly inaccurate.
Cadbury's do not hire muslim truck drivers to collect the milk either. If a muslim drives a Cadbury truck he or she got the job the same way as any other person gets the job.
We are asking consumers around the world to buy and return Cadbury’s Chocolate whenever you go shopping.
After you buy a halal certified product, ake it home and tear open the OUTER wrapping a bit, but not the inner foil, and then return it to the shop for a refund. We recommend saying that you found out Cadbury’s Chocolates are blessed by an islamic imam and you cannot eat food blessed by a false god. If you are a Christian, you can say that the Bible forbids you to eat food blessed by a false god.
Under the law, merchants MUST refund your money….and because the packaging is damaged they can’t put it back on the shelf to re-sell. They will be forced to return it to Cadbury’s Chocolate for a refund.
Of course, don’t do this at the same store each time. So whenever you go shopping at a new store, buy a halal product and return it for a refund.

Well, they could hardly put the logo on the yoghurt.
