Do people that object to halal certification refuse to fly on airlines like Etihad, Emirates?
I prefer Emirates myself...good food too.

Gosh all this drama over a label that's not much different in business structure than any other label like the Heart Foundation tick (although I don't think McDonald's will be able to buy the halal label for a mere $300k like the Heart Foundation was willing to accept). I don't approve of the methods of killing the animals by any means anymore than I would like to see the intense farming practices required to feed a nation of millions. But this isn't about money, isn't about religion or even ethical standards it's all based on ignorant fears. Hopefully the Innocent Muslim people can ride this out till we choose another minority group to vilify.

Obviously Fleurieau aren't buying into the religious carp. Good on 'em.
On the contrary, they have reluctantly been forced to buy into the religious (and nationalistic) carp - didn't you read their public statement?

I only fly Emirates or Etihad if possible - safest and best for me, I also like to listen to the Qur'an on the headset, whoever is speaking has the most loveliest calming voice, great for a nervous flyer.

The only stupid people are those certifying their milk and paying for the privlage. Milk is Halal without the exorbitant cost of certifying it. Good on them for taking a stand......

Religious freedom.
How does obtaining halal ccreditation impinge in any way on his ability to practice his own religion - if he has one?
Freedom of speech.
How does obtaining halal ccreditation impinge in any way on his ability to speak his mind on any subject he chooses?
Freedom of choice.
How does making a business decision to meet the requirements of one customer impinge in any way on his ability to make other choices in respect of other customers?
All those reasons immigrants flocked here in the aftermath of WWs 1 and 2
Like the freedom to observe their own religious practices,to cater - if they so choose - for those whose religious practices might be different from their own, to run their businesses in the manner they see fit and to optimise their commercial opportunities in any way that is legal
Yes very clever Ms She-el.
The freedom lies in being able to market your product without being bound by religious constraints. People observing their religion other than that of the host country are welcome to observe their beliefs but must not issue demands the host country bow down to them.
