A week of spin, division and incompetence

The first parliamentary sitting week for 2013 again highlighted Labor’s incompetence, division and dishonesty.

As MPs returned to Canberra, ordinary Australians were again reminded of Labor’s division and addiction to spending, spin and broken promises.

In the space of just a week:

• Julia Gillard and Labor confirmed that the budget is in deficit, despite previously promising and guaranteeing a surplus on over 650 occasions


• Labor also refused to rule out further tax hikes on superannuation


• It was revealed at the ICAC inquiry in NSW that Ministers Conroy and Burke had accepted free hospitality from Eddie Obeid


• Senator Trish Crossin had demanded a board or ambassadorial appointment following her dumping by the Prime Minister


• Craig Thomson appeared before court in Melbourne to be formally charged with 154 fraud offences


• The Prime Minister accused some of her own MPs of undermining the Government


• Kevin Rudd’s backers in Caucus continued to agitate for change in the Labor leadership


• And to cap the week off, Wayne Swan announced quietly this afternoon that the mining tax has only raised about 10% of what it was supposed to raise!

This is going to be a hell of a year for Labor.

to be fair ld its abbott supporting an offender priest, it goes to his judgement. better for him to come clean and say it 'i have an ex priest  mate who is a child molester. my character reference kept him out of gaol''  abbott better hope this bloke isn't still at it.. because it will be abbotts doing ..

i liked the line yesterday about the ABC being given 10 million as a funding boost to shore up the lefty commentary ? i look at the drum and see peter reith and turn on 24 this morning and who should greet me but jamie briggs. you do know that the director was appointed by john howard dont you ? someone should tell the idiot you read.

I think the question was, was the copy and paste from another forum, not written by the OP, not where posters post.

It is usual to give credit to the writer?

Because it was 1997 when he did that..... You really do leave out the facts in your hatred and bitterness to Abbott dont you and the priest won an appeal and had his conviction squashed.

When bringing up the past we must stick to Gillard's and Labor members pasts?

Is that right. We can attack Gillard about things that may have happened 20+ years ago. Correct?

How far back are we allowed to go back when discussing Abbott and LNP?

Is there a reason for the difference?

Election year is hell for whatever party is in power, I don't think it makes a difference if its labor or Liberal.

I couldn't give a flying fig how many different forums people waste their time on.

However. If the OP has simply cut and past some bit of unsubstantiated fluff from another poster from some other forum then the cut and past brigade have just hit a new all time low on the credibility scale on CS.

And I agree with you - is that really the kind of debate we are going to have on here? (???) An opening post on some other forum that no-one even bothered to take up in debate.  Some other forums sad leftovers? No thanks.

I think that's it Az.

If the author was a poster somewhere else (?) I would think some sort of permission and/or acknowledgement of the author may be the correct thing to do 

otherwise it would be reasonable to expect that some may think and ask if the person republishing it elsewhere is the original author and/or to ask where it came from.

As it is I think it perfectly reasonable and to be expected that people can and will and do ask questions about it.
