Wheres my passport............
IA - today
An economy being wrecked; warlike skirmishes with Indonesia nearing; Niugini likely to expel our cruel colonising tormentors of children from their shores; a U.S. Secretary of State denouncing our global warming policy; the Iranians condemning our record on human rights; a High Commissioner, Labor and competent, sacked and replaced by a fatuous tory suspected of war crimes; a Health Minister assisting the chocolate industry and misleading parliament; Australia derided world-wide and a thousand more days of this to come.

"The CFMEU has expressed grave concern that the narrow terms (???) of the Royal Commission appear to exclude slush funds in the construction industry that are linked to the Liberal National Party (LNP)"
"appears" means you have no idea, but will write it anyway so as to convice those who have no intention, or idea how to research
"The Terms of Reference of the inquiry are expressed very broadly, suggesting a wide range of unions, organisations, individuals and employers across a range of industries may be called upon to assist. There will be a particular focus on the practices in the construction industry. "
"BRIBES, secret commissions, corruption and slush funds will be the target of a powerful royal commission into unions ."
"A royal commission will be uncomfortable for both employers and for unions because collusion takes two parties,"
"It follows allegations of organised crime links to the building industry, allegations of kickbacks to the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) officeholders and union leaders using standover tactics to force companies to use particular labour hire firms."
I am not surprised the CFMEU are concerned, they will be the stars, however I would not take National CFMEU Construction Secretary, Dave Noonan's concerns as other than vested/partial deflecting codswallop.

no offence meant but from a purely aesthetic point, over use of italics turns the desire to read off, no matter what the words are.

I don't have a problem with italics & saying that it sounds funny that that part of your post was the only thing questioned.
MM, it's going to be very interesting but I don't know if even a Royal Commission can root out the corruption of the unions & Labor, it's too ingrained, has been for ever, that's the way they operate.

see how it looks clearer, more inviting to the eye.
Clearly the above is one opinion, and mine is another. What I will say is that there are grubs everywhere. In all levels of government, from local councils up, all levels of business, both major parties, anywhere and everywhere - if this was to be a financially sensible RC in the interest of the nation, then surely the target would be aimed a little higher. As has been noted, Trade Union membership is at a low level, so it's hardly bothering the nation as a whole, nor is their any kind of financial incentive for the nation.

@silverfaun wrote:The smear campaign run on Australia & the Conservative government since labor was defeated is just that, a smear campaign.
The unions are running around & every 5 minutes they & labor are giving press conferences whinging & whining about the dispicable Libs, how dare they preside over a policy that has seen one illegal immigrant killed by another countries constabulary.
Where was all the outrage when 1000's died at sea? where was the outrage when we were witness to a boat full of people dashed upon the rocks & killed before our very eyes....well?
I'd like to know where all the outrage was when, not only did we give the thumbs up to murder hundreds of thousands of men, women and children, but actually re-elected the weasel that made the decision. I suppose the right thought their share dividends and home equity were more important and they showed that at the ballot box.
