They are all my beautiful old vintage cotton and linen Italian sheets. And I want them crisp and perfectly white without yucky looking stains.
I have tried bleaching them and left them in the sun for days but still nothing.
(I am sure you can guess the stains I mean)

Martini - are you regretting airing your dirty linen on CS yet:^O
Teatowels are NOT for wiping hands on, disgusting.
Ahh, I know that..... but kitchen sinks are good for washing hands, that's why we have hand towels in the kitchen :^O

Nah, life is too short to stress over tea towels. I may have in the early days but nah, they wash too easily to waste energy fighting about them. ๐

no! its not that! what if someone wipes their greasy hands on a teatowel and then you use it to wipe your clean tea cup with it?? ๐ฎ

Use any laundry soaker/Napisan that has an OXYGEN or OXY component.
Wet the stained areas, sprinkle some soaker direct onto the wet stain, then soak the whole thing in a bucket with more of the soaker dissolved in water ...and as someone said earlier, use more than recommended, say 2 or 3 caps to a bucket of cold water.
Leave to soak for 3 or 4 days or even longer.
Then cold wash.
The oxy soakers are phenomenal for cleaning - I'm not a big user of chemicals or named brand laundry stuff but the oxy soakers are an absolute godsend, even the homebrand el cheapos.
Plain soakers just don't cut the mustard in comparison.
good luck

Don't ever use a cup in a hotel/motel without scalding it first. Chances are that the towel used to wipe the cup has been used to wipe everything else too. So say the current affairs detectives.
