Alcohol question

If a small framed female say weighing around 46 - 50 kilos drank bourbon and coke from around 3.20pm to between 9 - 10 every week night do you believe she would still be over the limit if she got in her car to drive at say 6am the morning after .

Someone i know drinks like this and its more on a Friday and Saturday night as she stays up later. She doesnt see her drinking as a problem because she budgets for it . In 6 days she has drunk 2 x 1.25 ltrs bourbon and started on a 3rd not to mention all the coke tht she has also .

I believe if she got pulled over on the way to work one morning she would blow over the limit, would you agree ?

hand in hand joz - you take it one day at a time

so far 287 days for me, and it is bloody hard, and every day I have to convince myself to NOT have a drink, rather than latch on to the first excuse I can come up with to have one.

day by day

after about 25 years "just for today" conditioning.. becomes second nature to you to the point of living for the moment

youre doing well greencat, and if you need to tell yourself each day.. i will not pick up a drink, then keep it up.. it's whatever works for you

Re: Alcohol question

For anyone who is afraid of AA or NA or Al Anon because of the "AA god thing". I want to say this:

You take what you need and leave the rest.

Using the "god thing" as a reason for not getting sober or, in Al Anon for refusing to stop enabling a drunken addicted family member or friend is a lame excuse.

AA, NA and Al Anon aren't  religions.

You take what you need and leave the rest.

lol. 2 bottles and Im smashed, lol. I stick to one most usually.

some would say we arent fully recovered Joe because we still have a drink. well thats what AA and NA would say anyway.

to that I say, my life is manageable, so whats the problem.

in a sense duff because you are submitting to a substance if your posion of choice was alcohol

you gotta ask yourself why do i need a drink.. is there something underlying i should be dealing with instead

and it could also be a reminder that you will always have an addictive personality

i went through detox twice, 2 weeks a program because hard drugs was my problem

there they encourage controlled drinking, lol. if you must have a drink after doing a recovery program that is

it boils down to if whatever substance youre using is screwing your life around, it's probably best to put it down altogether

i know i would never have another hit, be playin' on dangerous grounds if i thought i could just have one here and there

i also know i havent fully recovered too coz i have an occassional drink - substituting a mind mood altering substance, and i still smoke ciggies - know it's definitely no good for me but i still do it, it's insane

Re: Alcohol question

Buzz, it is pretty funny to hear an ex alcoholic say that they have never hurt anyone as they don't even know what they did or said the night before.

The damage is enormous.

Oh dear.

I missed this post.

Two bottles of what?

Do you really believe you are recovered from your addiction?

I ask because, in my opinion,  a recovered addict wouldn't  try to to publicly involve others in enabling and co-dependence of the addiction -

"some would say we arent fully recovered Joe because we still have a drink."

 2 bottles...

Last post to you Buzz, you are way too angry for me, lol

two bottles of wine- if you had read the thread properly without going off at every post you read, you would have known that.

and yes, I have recovered from my drug of choice.
