Australian dog owners are urged to be on high alert for a deadly tick-borne disease ehrlichiosis, which has reached the state of Victoria for the first time. -
A positive case was found in a dog that had travelled from the Northern Territory where the disease is widespread, to Horsham Victoria.
Ehrlichiosis is caused by a tick-borne bacteria and if left untreated may prove fatal to dogs, the disease had not been detected in Australia prior to May 2020.
There is currently no vaccine available for the deadly disease.
