All my XL files turned "read only"

Overnight, all my XL files turned "read only", but when I go to properties, the "read only" box is not ticked!  It tells me that if I want to save I have to give it new name, but then it tells me I have to save it in another folder, and when I choose another folder it tells me to save it in "documents" and when I agree it tells me I have no permission.............!!!

I have XL 2013.  Do I have a virus or is it just a update that does not like my XL?

have you tried googling the problem? someone else has most likey had the same problem and posted about it.

or try ticking the 'read only' box then, restarting the computer, then go back and untick the box, and restart again.

sometimes computers just get confused.

A system restore may help if you take it back to a previous date.

Thanks everybody.  It's OK now.  After ticking and unticking the "read only" box and re-starting the computer few times, it's back to normal.  All othe annoying things also are back to normal; like when I tried to make new folder, it would give me 4!

That's because I tried to google it, and  re-started it and did all the things before I even posted here.  I am not sure what actually fixed it. I went out and when I got home it was back to normal.   All the answers could have been right, and I just clicked on the last, mainly to stop getting messages asking if it was solved.  🙂
