Couldnt find the old one so I thought I'd start another.
How is everyone going, havent seen Gill around for a while, I wonder how she's getting on.
My dad is quickly getting worse to the point where I will probably need to move him into high care now. We are also having low blood pressure and high blood sugar problems. Waiting on some tests to see what thats all about.
He is now at the point where by the time he takes his seatbelt off, he starts to put it back on again. If I turn a corner in the corridor before him, he forgets where I've gone and what he was doing. He is also starting to forget how to eat and becoming a little bit difficult with the staff.
😞

So, today, I noticed Dad is not eating well enough, I suspect he needs to go to the dentist but that would probably be a mission in itself 😞
I spoke to the nurse and she suggested a soft diet, so we tried it 🙂 He ate all his food! and said how nice it was.

Phew....what a day.
Dad is all moved in to his new digs, so far so good.
He seems pretty happy, the people are lovely and he has all his special things in his room so its all familiar to him.
I feel bad because we are going away for the long weekend and I feel like I should be there for him over the next couple of days. Hopefully my sisters will get in there and check up on him.
Maybe I'll sneak down there for a quick visit early tomorrow morning before we head off 🙂

Glad to hear your dad seems happy in his new place. Moving is stressful, even for people without Alzheimers!

Az, make enquiries at the home.
We were in the same boat with my Dad....even before he went into the home we were aware that his dentures were not fitting properly. I thought they needed relining.
Within a couple of weeks the staff spoke to me about it. They had a local dental prosthetist who came in to patients as necessary. I gave the OK and he saw Dad within a few days. The new dentures were produced with a couple of weeks and there were 2 follow up visits to iron out a couple of small problems.
Dad's full set of dentures was quicker and cheaper than my husband's partial top denture...and he did not have to go anywhere.

Dad has his own teeth on the bottom and a denture for the top. All looks good there, apparently 🙂
Staff have been great organising the soft diet, so hopefully it continues until we have a residents meeting next week.
