We received two letters in the mail today. One was addressed to Mr M Xxx & Mrs J Xxx the other to Mxxx & Jxxx Xxx. Guess which was from the local Liberal candidate and which from Labor?
I suppose it's natural for conservatives to think that two people with the same last name, living at the same address, must be married. We could be brother and sister or parent and child for all they know.

Hubby and daughter both got letters from the local Lib guy.
I don't exist apparently

Hubs and I each received a letter from Turnbull, we sent them back to him

In this particular instance they are both okay. But, if we had a different relationship, for example one of the ones I mentioned above, it would not be okay.
Its about assumptions.

Wouldn't the letters be addressed according to how we fill in the Australian Electoral Commission's registration form?
Both Parties appear to be saving mailing costs with same surnames receiving the one (1) letter at the address.

Do we identify our title there? I can't remember.
I know there is no Mr, Mrs, Dr or anything like that on the electoral roll.
