Mostly restrict oldies to home quarantine after first establishing an efficient
home delivery system for essentials.
Let all the young ones just go for it and get the economy rolling again.
Some will die but the flu also kills at about the same rate and it's usually
people with a pre-existing condition which makes them vulnerable so what
COVID-19 doesn't get the flu will.
For the most part it will be a mild case of the flu and we having been living
this way since the Spanish Flu pandemic.
The most vulnerable group ( oldies ) will be protected until a vaccine is developed.
We would have to FaceTime our relatives. A small price to pay for the good of mostly all.
Any oldies caught outdoors without an 'effective' face mask will be stripped of excursion rights.
The alternative is sending our country broke.
If put to a vote then most oldies ( including me ) would vote yes.

I am over 70 ( by a tad ).
It's not house arrest forever. Just until a vaccine arrives.
The UK is considering it.
Of course there is the usual outcry about the mental health of oldies
going down the gurgler but I guess many oldies are heading into
demetia or alzheimers anyway.
The curve would probably flatten enough for us all to go back to normal
much sooner.
A V shaped economic recovery is suggested as the probable outcome
of our present course. I guess there are enough people out there foolish
enough to believe this.
There is an economic disaster looming and all some can think of is
hugging their grand kids. I sure hope they are already living under
the same roof as the oldies.

I wasn’t asking how old you were, I was looking to find out how old you had to be to qualify as an oldie ?

The age group would be those considered most at risk.
Over 70 or 65 ( if with pre-existing conditions ).

If you move into a cave, make your own clothing and eat what you catch I would tend to respect
your view that lives are worth more thAn money.

Yes hugging my Grandchildren, one who has a Brain Tumour, is very important to me, every day I spend away from him is to much
1. the grand children dont live with me,
2, I am in lock down in NZ and it has been 3 weeks.
3, no I dont want to be locked down for 2 years till they find a Vaccine.
For some one over 70 you seem to have no clue about others lives or how long it takes to find a Vaccine

not me - the fix as proposed would require proper screening certified covid-19 free of all citizens on a weekly basis , without that business as usual would result in a mass infections and hospital breakdown, then society as we know it, worse than America ( where there is even an attempt at isolation)

A fast vaccine 12-18 months but I certainly don't want to be couped up that long.
Lock up the oldies and wait until the virus dies out.
If no new cases within 1 month then safe to say it's gone in Australia least wise.

If I actually came to an online forum to make friends then there
would most definitely be something wrong with my life.
