2 years old and killed by a mastiff cross.
The grandmother managed to free the boy from the dogs jaws and rushed him inside. The dog followed her in and grabbed the baby right out of her arms because he wasn't finished.
By all accounts a well cared for dog with no history so we can't blame the owners here.
Why do we continue to allow these dogs to be kept in homes??

You masquerading as that South African guy we had on here a few months back?
Actually no I don't think a dog like that would be stopped by a bullet. I am thinking about that dog that continued to maul that cyclist recently even though by standers were ferociously hitting the dog with a iron bar.

What a terrible thing to happen, imagine being there and seeing that. The mother and grandmother did get the child away from the dog, but the child died soon after in hospital.
I guess one thing that would prevent similar is not to leave small children alone in the yard with a dog.

The link says the grandmother fought with the dog to free the toddler for 15 mins and collapsed with exhaustion. The mother had returned to the home and she continued grappling with the dog to get the toddler free?
For 15 horrifying minutes, Joyce tried to prise Kingston off her grandson's head until she collapsed from exhaustion.
Deeon's mother, Vicki, arrived home during the frantic struggle and managed to fight the dog off but Deeon had suffered critical injuries to his head and face and died in Deniliquin Hospital.

The 71-year-old was looking after Deeon while his mother Vicki Higgins shopped. She rushed outside when she heard his screams and managed to pry him from the dog's jaws and take him inside the house.
But the powerful pet followed and took hold of him again.
This time, the grandmother was too frail to save him - at one point collapsing from exhaustion. Deeon's mother returned 15 minutes into the attack and fought Kingston off, but the toddler died a short time after arriving at hospital.

Terrible thing to happen, but ... what makes you think the grandmother was not to blame??
"Deeon had been getting an ice-cream from the outdoor freezer at his grandmother Joyce Higgins' home about 2.30pm on Sunday.
The 71-year-old was looking after Deeon while his mother Vicki Higgins shopped. She rushed outside when she heard his screams".
Deeon had an icecream - he was outside alone with the dog - dogs like icecream.
No 2-year old should be left outside alone with a dog (any dog) - especially when the child is eating something.
