Queensland criminologist Paul Wilson appears in Brisbane court on indecent dealing charges
I used to admire his work, but lost respect when he went to the defence of Corby many years ago.

I misread your post I think..the allegations are at the end ?
As I said, the allegations (which in the end she even agreed she had exaggerated the intent) were as simple as a toddler sitting on dads lap after a bath. Yes said child was naked. But said child just came out of a bath and needed to be dried. How else was he supposed to dry the kid?
That's what I mean by ridiculous.

yes and then there are the cases were a guilty verdict for the accused may not be achieved until a new case comes up years later

Martini I understand your frustration. I too have a family member who was falsely accused as vengence for a messy divorce. However, that doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. We can't simply ignore the claims. I wish I knew the answer but there will always be those who use it as a means of getting back at someone. For those who it has happened to it is debilitating for life. As I said, there are no easy answers. And it isn't that simple.

Of course. I agree.
But I have two problems with what I see:
I also question the fine line being trod at the moment between sexual abuse and just someone being too 'handy'. Should someone like harris have been as 'handy' as he was? Maybe not. Does this mean that this is the reason a grown woman is now drug and alchohol dependant and has had a life of psychological angst? Gees, I'm Italian and if I took any of the 'hands on' affection I had growing up as sexual abuse, I'd be a nutcase by todays standards.

quite frankly you were probably the wrong gender.
I went to a catholic school, I remember our priest moving parish overnight, years later he was charged with sex offences during the time I was at that school.
There was ample opportunity for him to have touched us girls, but it was only the boys who used to return to class crying....
pepe, this particular priest liked little girls *shudder* I do believe my parents probably saved me by being over protective.

I understand. I was simply responding to others comments that the cases are simple. I was making the point that sometimes they are not.
And as such we should act but we shouldn't judge until all the between the lines facts are sorted through.

I understand Martini.
I have a friend who was told that her claims were ridiculous when she was young. Her Mother told her that and ignored what she said. She was raped by her Step Father from the age of 8,sometimes he bought his friends to visit her...her Mum ignored what she said.At 15 she gave birth to her Step Fathers child.
